“Sleep Of Death” Bug Appeared On Xperia Z

Sleep Of Death Xperia Z

After Xperia T and Xperia V,  “Sleep Of Death”  issue, has also appeared on the new Sony’s flagship Xperia Z. There is nothing official right now, only some testimonials, from people who own the device, in forums and blogs. According to some friends of this blog, they experienced this issue with the Android 4.1.2 – Build 10.1.A.1.350 installed. You can check their comments in the article about SOD on Xperia V.

Probably the bug is caused because of the SD card. So remove it and try to use your phone without it for a while, to see if SOD occurs again. Then contact your local support team for more info.

Sony has already responded, saying that a fix for SOD will be implemented in next software update for the phone. Unfortunately we don’t have the specific release date. Maybe it will be included in the upcoming update of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean of Xperia Z, which will feature the new 3.6 kernel, instead of the 3.4 kernel of the old Android 4.1.2 firmware.

Update 22 March

A new firmware update is available for Sony Xperia Z and ZL (10.1.A.1.434.) with no major changes. Hopefully the “sleep of death” bug is resolved. The Android version stays 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and the Kernel seems to be the same 3.4.
